We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail.

President George W. Bush in Shanksville, PA at the Flight 93 Memorial, today:  "One of the lessons of 9-11 is that evil is real and so is courage."

Other Bush quotes worth remembering today:

American will never run...And we will always be grateful that liberty has found such brave defenders.

If America shows weakness and uncertainty, the world will drift toward tragedy. That will not happen on my watch.

America has never been united by blood or birth or soil.  We are bound by ideals that move us beyond our background, lift us above our interests and teach us what it means to be citizens.

Whether we bring our enemies to justice or bring just justice to our enemies, justice will be done.

  1. Vice-President Joe Biden certainly knew what to say today in his remarks at the Pentagon:

"Those in this building that day knew that this was a declaration of war by stateless actors bent on changing our way of life … who believed these horrible acts of terror could buckle our knees… could bend our will … could break us.
But instead, that same American instinct that sent you all into the breach between the 4th and 5th corridors, galvanized a new generation of patriots – the 9/11 generation...

The terrorists who attacked the Pentagon sought to weaken America by shattering a defining symbol of our military might. They failed. They failed because they fundamentally misunderstood – and still do – the true source of American power.
As Americans, we draw our strength from the rich tapestry of our people. And the true legacy of 9/11 is that our spirit is mightier, the bonds that unite us thicker, and our resolve firmer than the million tons of limestone and concrete that make up this edifice.
Al Qaeda and bin Laden never imagined that the 3,000 people who lost their lives that day would help inspire almost 3 million to wear our uniform … and harden the resolve of a nation 300-million-strong.
They never imagined the sleeping giant they would awaken.
They never imagined these things-because they did not understand what enables us-and always has enabled us-to withstand any test that comes our way."

    Way to go, Joe!
